I do canvaswork. I do needlepoint. They are not the same thing. Marion Scoular, a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework, states clearly in her wonderful reference book that to use the word 'point' when describing needlework refers to lace. Needlepoint, point de gaze, Point d' Angleterre all are laces.
The correct term is canvaswork. Don't sit there and tell me your mother used to call it needlepoint. I know she did. I used to call it needlepoint myself. Once I learned the correct term, I began to use it. Go home and correct your mother. I dare you.
