What Wenches do in Groups

Wenches gather at every opportunity to sit, chat and stitch. In that order. We sit, we chat, sometimes we eat and we stitch. At the very least, we pull out our stitching and place it in front of us, so other Wenches are (not) fooled into thinking that we are actually stitching. Sometimes we even thread a needle. Wenches might set a few stitches, but are not expecting to make great progress. Wenches are gathering for more than just stitching.

Wenches gather to spend time with like minded individuals. We share information on obscure techniques, we bemoan the difficulty of finding a competent framer or perfectly stocked shop. We garner support over episodes of frogging, and back pats for our taa-daahs. Wenches share knowledge and puzzles and opinions freely. We tease Wenches who have finished too many projects too quickly (David is an honorary Wench and he knows it!) and Wenches who have won awards in local competitions. There is no harm meant in our teasing, we respect ability and recognize it when we see it.

No topic is safe in our wide ranging discussions. Need help choosing wallpaper, finding a day care setting or getting your car repaired? Wenches to the rescue. You may discuss racism, sexism, ageism and any other 'ism' you choose. We'll get on your case if you actually are racist, sexist or whatever, but you can talk about anything. Wenches have been there and done that and will share what they have learned. Just because one of our talents is needlework, doesn't mean our only talent is needlework.

We especially like to subvert unsuspecting newbies into Wench-hood. There's always room for another Wench. If you find yourself in the area, whether virtual or real world, stop in, sit a spell and hold a needle. That's our membership requirement.
